  4. Hi all, a quick note to let you know that we have provided additional guidance around the Future Flight Standards Landscape. Here is a short overview of some pieces that may be of interest to you: An inside look at how we developed the Future Flight Standards Landscape Among other use cases, we have also developed a deeper dive into the use of the landscape by DAA solution providers, check it out here. If there is any additional guidance or support that would be helpful to you as our community member, please do let us know and we will look to assist as much as we can.
  5. Hello everyone! I wanted to update you on what we've been calling the "Guidance standard". We're really looking forward to sharing this with you. What is the Guidance standard? PAS 1905, Future Flight systems - Regulatory principles, management systems, and design assurance processes - Guide is one of the standards currently in development as part of BSI's Future Flight programme. It aims to provide guidance to SMEs and new entrants hoping to scale and grow in the sector. This Guide will support businesses to navigate regulation, standards and industry expectations. It may also be of interest to insurers and investors who want to learn about the sector. What is happening now? The first draft of the standard has been produced by our Technical Author and is being edited by the BSI team. Once this first edit is finished, the draft will be shared with our Steering Group, the expert panel who will provide comments and feedback to the Technical Author. The project team will have some meetings to review these comments and decide on the best way forward. When can I see the standard? Once the Technical Author has updated the standard in line with the Steering Group's feedback, the standard will be ready for Public Consultation. At this point, it'll be uploaded to our Standards Development Portal where you can comment on the draft. I'll let you know here (and via email) when this period begins. We estimate that this Public Consultation phase will happen in July, and it'll last a month. Your comments will be reviewed by the project team and will help to shape the final version. Thanks for your support!
  6. To support you on your innovation and industrialization journey, alongside the development of the Guidance PAS, we’re excited to bring you an exclusive opportunity to enhance your expertise through our two free learning courses. At the heart of aviation, precision, safety, and reliability are key. To help develop your knowledge in these areas, UKRI Future Flight Challenge have partnered with BSI Academy to deliver two 30-minute eLearning courses, introducing you to the role of standards in this space: ISO 9001 Quality Management: the world's most widely adopted standard, helping organizations to continually monitor and manage quality across their business. ISO 27001 Information Security: helping organizations better understand what constitutes a threat to the confidentiality, integrity, availability, and accountability of information. Whether you're new to these standards or looking to enhance your existing knowledge, our courses provide a flexible, accessible way to level up your expertise. Respond to this post, or send me a DM via the community to claim one of the free spots on the course. If you have any further questions, please feel free to share below.
  7. Thanks to all who joined our scoping workshop for the Future Flight Systems - Regulatory principles, management systems and design assurance processes - Guide PAS, and in particular @Mike Gadd, @Flora Pery-Knox-Gore and @Chris Gee for facilitating the discussions. You can now find the scoping workshop report here, and the scope here. This PAS is designed to help market new entrants, start ups and SMEs to navigate the complexity of future flight standards and regulation. To ensure the standard supports your needs, we're keen to hear from you. So if you are a future flight market new entrant, a start up entering this space, or an SME and are interested in being more closely involved in shaping this standard, please let us know below, or get in touch directly with @Flora Pery-Knox-Gore via the community or at: flora.peryknoxgore@bsigroup.com.
  8. This week, BSI held a Scoping Workshop for our latest Future Flight standard under development: Future Flight Systems: Regulatory principles, management systems and design assurance processes - Guide. It was a really useful and engaging session; thank you so much to all who participated, and we look forward to working with you again in future. Some fantastic insights were shared by attendees, which we are capturing in our updated Scope and Content List. It is vital that we continue to receive feedback from the industry, as this Guide aims to inform and advise new entrants and SMEs seeking to industrialize and grow within the sector. Curious about our vision for this new standard, and wondering how you can get involved? Check out the slide deck below for a taste of what was shared in our workshop. 9. Navigating the complex and evolving regulatory and standards landscape alongside development of innovative technologies within the future flight space can be a challenge. To support SME's, new market entrants and start-ups on this journey, and as @Flora Pery-Knox-Gore already mentioned below, we're developing the next standard: "Future Flight Systems - Regulatory principles, management systems and design assurance processes - Guide". Alongside this, we're also providing access to additional opportunities such as training, learning and mentoring, and sharing resources and opportunities you can tap into. As part of this, we've partnered with Aerospace Xelerated - Boeing’s aerospace accelerator programme on the latest community article, authored by @Nichola Bates, who shares more on how industry leaders can help new entrants overcome hurdles and drive innovation in aviation. Read in full and find out about further opportunities and support available here. As always, if you have any questions, thoughts, or suggestions, please feel free to share below.
  10. Hello everyone, welcome to our dedicated space for discussions of the new standard development project, Future Flight Systems - Regulatory principles, management systems and design assurance processes - Guide. I'm Flora, the Project Manager for this standard, and I'll be working closely with our Technical Author, @Mike Gadd. We're really looking forward to meeting many of you in our upcoming workshop to develop a Scope for this standard, which aims to guide new entrants to the market and organizations seeking to scale and industrialize within the sector. It will provide guidance on management systems and assurance frameworks, signpost to existing regulation and standards, and include practical guidance, examples and templates. Please feel free to post in this space with any questions, ideas, or topics for debate. We are keen to engage a variety of stakeholders who can provide insights into their particular challenges and experiences, so that we can ensure the standard meets these needs. If you have any queries relating to the standard or wish to be closely involved in its development, feel free to get in touch with me at flora.peryknoxgore@bsigroup.com. For questions relating to the use of the Future Flight Standards Hub, please message @Sasha.
