Definition
beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS) (3.1.35) operation where the primary means of achieving safe separation from crewed aircraft is with an uncrewed aircraft observer (UAO) (3.1.135), or observers, to provide detection of potential hazards and communicate this information to the remote pilot
NOTE For these operations, the observer is required to maintain visual contact with the uncrewed aircraft (UA) (3.1.134), whereas in airspace observer beyond visual line of sight (AO-BVLOS) operations (3.1.10), the observer visually scans the airspace without necessarily maintaining the UA in sight.
