document issued by a Contracting State to define the design of an aircraft, remote pilot station, engine or propeller type and to certify that this design meets the appropriate airworthiness requirements of that state
NOTE 1 “Remote pilot station” is synonymous with the term “command unit”, more commonly used in the UK and EU.
NOTE 2 In the context of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), a “Contracting State” refers to a sovereign state that has ratified or otherwise formally accepted the provisions of the Chicago Convention. The Chicago Convention, also known as the Convention on International Civil Aviation, is a multilateral treaty established in 1944 that serves as the foundational document for international civil aviation.[34]
